Sunday, August 10th, 2008

I am happy because Giovanni Pellielo, who was born in my home town (Vercelli, Italy), won the Silver Medal in Beijing’s Olympic Games.

I took this picture some months ago in Vercelli.

David Hobby: former Baltimore Sun staff photographer

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

I miss the times when I visited Stobist hoping to read about David Hobby’s assignment for The Baltimore Sun, a metro daily newspaper in the eastern US.
Hobby was a staff photographer for that paper. At the beginning he wrote on his blog about his own assignment and it was really interesting to read his posts.
Here are some examples: munchies, dealing with TV’s and CRT’s, wind tunnel, abstract concrete, blind snoot portrait, pool portrait, found backdrop

One year ago he decided to bring a period of rest from his job at the Sun. He wanted to spend more time with his family and blogging was turning into a second job.

On Friday, one hundred people left The Baltimore Sun. David Hobby was one of them. He talks about it in “Will Shoot For Food“. He has always been a photographer, and that is what he wants to continue to be, but this is the question: who he will be shooting for? What will he be shooting?

Here is an excerpt from his DVD: he teaches how to take a portrait with a nice background.
